Online gambling hotspot Betfair have unveiled a new series of exclusive promotions, awarding winners with prize packages to the 2011 World Series of Poker. The total value of these prizes comes in at $150,000.
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly promotion will run until May 27th, and amounts to a points race with cash value of $70,000. The top three players on May 27th will all receive seats in the $10,000 Main Event of the WSOP this summer. While those who are placed 4th and 150th will split a cash prize of $40,000.
The 6-Shooter promotion allows players to win as many seats as they can over the months of April and May into the Six Shooter Tournaments. Taking place from July 1st to 6th, there are 2 sets of WSOP Side Event packages available to win in every event, each one worth around $5,700. Players who enter and earn at least 50 points can also win a single seat into the $5,700 WSOP Side Event, by winning at Betfair.com’s Sharp Shooter Final on May 7th.
In an alteration to their normal schedule, Betfair.com has changed the daily $2500 Welcome Freeroll into a fortnightly event over April and May. The $5,700 prize pool will consist of one WSOP Side Event package, along with $1400 worth of WSOP Satellite tickets.
Along with prize money numbering in millions of dollars, the winners of the WSOP events also win a famed WSOP bracelet, one of the most coveted and prized items in professional poker. The winner of the Main Event is also considered to be the World Champion of Poker (at least for that year). The annual WSOP consists of 58 separate events, covering various poker forms (although around half the events are Texas Hold’em), and is spread out over June and July. In 2010, Jonathan Duhamel became the first Canadian ever to win the main event, taking home a staggering $8.94 million.
