The world-famous London Grosvenor Victoria Casino, affectionately known as “The Vic”, will play host to the latest instalment of the Black Belt Poker Academy this weekend. Kicking off at 1pm on Saturday, April 9th , the main focus will be on heads-up play, and those who can make it will be treated to a series of seminars, lectures and tutorials by some of the world’s best poker players.
Unibet pro Alex Rousso will be hosting the event, and three seminars will take place throughout the day, all focusing on different aspects of heads-up gameplay. Professional player Sam Razavi is scheduled to be taking a lecture.
Razavi came 17th in the UKIPT March 2011 No Limit hold’em Main Event, taking $3155 in winnings. However his greatest victory to date is in the recent in Aussie Millions Tour where he cashed in 6th overall, taking home a bank-boosting $224,022 in winnings. Players will also be treated to World Heads-Up Champion Nik Persaud, who will be on hand to answer any heads-up dilemma questions. Persaud, in addition to his other qualifications, is a well-known and highly-respected heads-up cash specialist. The Londoner also has a catalogue of celebrated successes, including finishing 5th in the European Open Final for $25,000, two cash wins in the World Series of Poker Main Event, and winning the World Heads-Up Poker Championship at The Vic back in 2010.
In order to achieve this feat Persaud had to best, among others, EPT Vilamoura winner Toby Lewis, runner-up Leon Louis, along with Team PokerStars Pro and EPT London winner Victoria Coren. Persaud is co-launcher of Black Belt Poker, alongside Irish Open Champion and friend Neil Channing. The site now contains an online poker room as well as interviews, strategy, blogs and a training facility.
