Dave GardenDave “NoCash” Garden showed some of his wealthier poker compatriots how it is done at the Palm Beach Big Game on Monday night. Dave (29), who recently got engaged to long term girlfriend Kel, took the first prize of £30,100 after winning his seat by being the last “qualified” man standing in the Blackpool Megastack tournament at the end of June.

Dave overcame one of the strongest fields ever assembled for the Palm Beach Big Game which included Joe Beevers, Richard Ashby, James Akenhead, Barney Boatman, Ross Boatman, Toby Lewis, Karl Mahrenholz, Neil Channing and Nik Persaud. Also playing in the field of 86 was Richard Sinclair, who won the UKIPT in Newcastle in June.

Final Finishing Positions and Prizes of the Palm Beach Big Game

1 Dave Garden £30,100
2 Matt Novak £17,200
3 Richard Sinclair £12,040
4 Ian Woodley £8,600
5 Daniel Rudd £6,020
6 Tim Blake £4,300

8 Nicholas Katz £2,580

The “Palm Beach Big Game” is a £1,000 tournament hosted at the London´s Palm Beach Casino in Berkeley Street, just off Piccadilly, each first Monday of the month. Buy-ins to the event can be made directly at the casino, or seats can be won in satellite tournaments hosted at both the Palm Beach Casino and other Genting-branded casinos throughout London.

Dave´s victory shows the value of qualifying for live poker events via online satellites, and as he has now won enough money to cover the cost of a decent wedding! However, Dave´s immediate plans are to “hammer the online Day 1s for the Dusk till Dawn Grand Prix” and then play at the World Cup of Amateur Poker (“WCOAP”) the following week – again at Dusk till Dawn. So, if anybody in Nottingham has a room for a few days … … .

Good luck to Dave with those two quests and our best wishes to Dave and Kel for their future together!
