Last Chance to Qualify for GUKPT Luton Main Event

GUKPT Luton 2011The Bedfordshire town of Luton, and its annual Luton Cultural Food Festival, may not have the same international tourist appeal as the Edinburgh Fringe, but it is where many of the poker players who recently competed in the Scottish capital´s UKIPT will be heading this week for the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour which starts at the Luton G Casino on Friday. Go to our GUKPT Luton schedule if you want to see the full schedule.

Valuable Main Event and Side Events Scheduled

As well the £1,070 buy-in Main Event won last year by Neil Channing (who incidentally collected more in prize money – £64,050 – than last weekend´s winner in Edinburgh) a series of side events complement the feature action. Often these side events are ignored by some players just focusing on the big picture, but last year´s biggest side pot paid a £14,570 first place prize to GUKPT regular Jeff Kimble.

Potential Overlay for Online Qualification

Satellites to the GUKPT Luton Main Event have been running throughout the month on G Casino, and tonight (Wednesday), the last of the Main Event qualifiers takes place at 8.00pm (UK time). Four seats are guaranteed in the tournament, which has a £272.00 buy-in, and with a minimum entry of just ten players needed for the game to take place there is the potential for a massive overlay. Live Qualification Also Available

The G Casino in Luton is also hosting four live super satellites today (Wednesday) and tomorrow at the following times:-

Wednesday August 17
2.00pm ReBuy Super Satellite £50.00 + £5.00
8.30pm Freezeout Super Satellite £150.00 + £15.00
Thursday August 18
2.00pm ReBuy Super Satellite £50.00 + £5.00
9.00pm Single ReBuy Super Sat £50.00 + £5.00

The Main Event has two “Day 1s” – both on Friday August 19 – starting at 12.00 noon and 6.00pm. Please be aware that the G Casino has a dress code which bans players from wearing trainers but, as Neil Channing found out last year, allows Judo suits to be worn!

Future GUKPT Events

If you cannot make it to Luton this weekend (or simply don´t want to!), future legs of the tour are going to be hosted in Coventry, Blackpool and London throughout the coming months.
