Day One of the PokerStars EPT London was a great day for the girls. No matches resolved yet, but even before the tournament gets under way in earnest (the Main Event starts today – Wednesday) there was some fantastic news for British female poker player Liv Boeree.
26 year old Liv has just been invited to join Team PokerStars UK and is thrilled at the prospect. Tweeting the announcement “eeeeeeeeee!!” (we thought she came from Kent), Liv is also revealed that her first role as a Team PokerStars UK member was appearing on BBC1’s Breakfast Show with PokerStars Team Sports player – Boris Becker.
First on the scene to offer their best wishes was one of the stars of UK ladies poker – Victoria Coren. Victoria said it was really nice to have another English girl on the PokerStars UK team and offered her congratulations.
Liv’s ascension into the world’s No. 1 poker site is another kick in the teeth for her previous sponsor Ultimate Bet who, already having suffered the embarrassment of Phil “Poker Twat Brat” Hellmuth’s visit to the pictures last weekend, mislaid another of their attractive stars – Trishelle Cannatella – who failed to enter the “Tuesday with Trishelle” tournament on UB.com. We shall wait to see whose team calendar she appears in next year, but the Team PokerStars UK one should already be on Santa’s list now Liv is on the team.
Another attractive young lady (and excellent poker player) who has been a little quiet of late is Annette Obrestad. She also had an excellent first day at the EPT London, making the final eight in the £5k Heads Up tournament. Play continues today, and Annette will be hoping to safely negotiate the final three rounds for her first cash in an EPT event for two years.
