Live Poker Action Round Up

Posted by David Cowell on October 06, 2010 at 12:42 BST

It has been a fantastic week for young UK Poker Player David Vamplew. The night after winning the EPT London Main Event and the biggest ever prize in live UK poker, Vamplew took the PokerStars UKIPT Champions of Champions Freeroll – winning free entry to all the UKIPT Main Events in the 2010-2011 season (Click here and scroll down for Season 2 schedule). It must be short odds that Vamplew will be the next PokerStars UK Pro to be announced after Liv Boeree this week, who acquitted herself splendidly in the £2K final event at the EPT London last night – just missing out on first prize to 21 year-old Swede, Jens Thorson (is it me, or are poker players getting younger?).

So, as the Yanks fly back across the pond (poker players and golfers alike) with their tails between their legs, after what has been a tremendous London Poker Festival for UK Poker Players, it is down the M23 for Leg 7 of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour at the G Casino in Brighton. A couple of the side events have already started, but tonight (Wednesday) sees the £150 buy-in “Super Satellite”, offering qualification for the Main Event which starts on Friday. There should be a good crowd down there throughout the week and over the weekend.

For those living “up t´north”, online qualification has started for Leg 8 of the GUKPT in Blackpool from Saturday 6th November, and UK Poker Players can win a seat in the Main Event for free through the G Casino Feeder Program .

Players who like to play their poker in sunnier climates (sunnier than Blackpool in November anyway!) may be interested in the current range of online qualifiers currently taking place on PokerStars. A busy schedule runs throughout the autumn, with qualification for the next stop on the French Poker Tour (Saint Amand 16th-17th Oct) well under way. A trip to France could be followed by the European Poker Tour event in Vienna (26th – 31st Oct), the Russian (!) Poker Tour in Sharm-el-Sheikh (31st Oct – 7th Nov), the North American Poker Tour in Los Angeles (12th – 17th Nov), back to Spain for the EPT Barcelona (22nd – 27th Nov) and then onto Nassau in the Bahamas for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
