36 year old Priyan de Mel from London has emerged victorious at the Blackpool leg of the GUKPT beating off 287 main event players to scoop £84,900 and a seat to the prestigious champion of champions event in London later this Month.

Heads up saw Priyan taking on 23 year old online poker pro James Williams from Swindon with having a 2-1 chip lead after eliminating Ben Vinson in 3rd place.

The heads up confrontation was a short one as Williams bluffed the turn on a board showing J-J-7-5 and found de Mel holding J-8, the river changed nothing and de Mel claimed the title!

Blackpool once again proved an amazing venue and host to leg 9 of the Grosvenor Uk Poker Tour, numbers were a bit down on 2008 but still attracted a large number of players for all the events held at the G Casino on festival week.

It’s now on to London for the GUKPT Team for the champion of Champions event whilst we wait with baited breath to see what 2010 has in store for the UK’s premier poker tour!
