Roberto RomanelloIt’s been a while since this name was mentioned but eventually Roberto Romanello the Welsh poker star comes good and beats a field of 563 players to win the EPT Prague, his first major title and €640,000 for his trouble.

Roberto shot into the UK poker scene during the GUKPT when aired on channel 4 for for it’s first season. Then a loud mouthed player with plenty to say nicknamed goberto by many, now however the 34 Year old from Swansea is much more subdued and recent showing mean he is taking the game he loves very seriously and this is a well deserved victory.

Roberto Romanello was overcome with joy in an emotional finale to the €5,300 ept event. Roberto said in his interview “I’ve been trying to do this for a very long time,” he said. “This means everything to me” As in the picture courtesy of the european poker tour Roberto was still wearing his “lucky wig” which we will  no doubt be seeing much more of.

A huge congratulations to Roberto from everyone at UK Poker Player and no doubt from everyone who just loves to see a Uk player do well. He’s a really nice guy and hopefully we will be writing more about his victories in the new Year.

A total of 563 players from 47 different countries took part in the €5,300 Main Event creating a €2,730,550 prize pool. The EPT Prague took place on December 13th to 18th  at the Hilton Prague Hotel.
