After an almost epic heads up Sam Razavi was the eventual winner of the UKIPT Cork 2011 and pocketed €71,000 for his troubles. The heads up against Irishman David O’Connor lasted 2 hours and saw Razavi fight back from a 2/1 chip deficit to beat O’Connor to top spot.
Sam Razavi can be seen in the photo as a typical tourist sporting a leprechaun hat and guineas t-shirt, although at that very moment possibly the happiest man in Cork after beating the full field of 602 players who took part in this amazing live event.
At one point in the game it appeared the inevitable luck of the Irish had taken a hold, David O’Connor found himself all-in with A-K Vs A-A only to catch runner, runner Kings on the turn and river to stay alive.
Sam Razavi is a one time actor enjoying the life of a poker player, the 30 year old from Brighton already made the final table of the Aussie Million this Year netting over $220,000. The plans for summer involve where else but Vegas for the World Series where who knows maybe this budding star could be the next recipient of the coveted wsop bracelet.
