The Grosvenor Casino in Leeds is the host for the fourth leg of the 2011 Sky Poker Tour (SPT). Taking place on Saturday 7th May, the Sky Poker Tour is unique amongst UK live poker tours inasmuch as no direct buy-in is available to public UK poker players, and seats to the events have to be won online through the Sky Poker qualifying tournaments.

This format offers a great opportunity for online UK poker players to dip their toes into the world of live poker and compete against other poker players who also have little or no knowledge of the live game.

Although this is the first time that the Leeds venue has appeared on the Sky Poker Tour, you can expect the usual range of Sky sponsored celebrities to be in attendance along with qualifiers to the event.

The Grosvenor Casino is a fantastic building situated on the Merrion Way, and with easy access from the airport, train station and Junction 9 of the A58(M). The casino hosts a very active local poker scene, comprised of cash games and tournaments, and includes special rookie nights in its schedule to encourage new players to the live game – complimenting what the SPT aims to achieve.

As mentioned above, you can only qualify for the £12.500 guaranteed Sky Poker Tour Leeds 2011 through Sky Poker. An online qualifying “semi-final” tournament is played each night at 9.30pm which has a direct buy-in of £22.00 + £2.00, and awards seats to the final event to the top 20% of players. Satellites to the “semi-final” run throughout the day for £4.80 + £0.40 (freeze-out – one in five qualifies) and £2.40 + £0.20 (R/A– one player qualifies for each £24.00 in the pot).

Priority Club member on Sky Poker can also use their player points to buy-in to the Sky Poker Tour Leeds 2011 provided you have accumulated 10.000 poker points within the previous month.

The same facility will be available for the climax of the SPT at the Dusk till Dawn poker club in Nottingham in September, however as the guaranteed prize fund for this event is an impressive £30.000; qualification details are yet to be announced.
