The Sky Poker Tour is proving a big success and although possibly not on top of most live poker players list of tournaments to play, it does offer a more affordable and enjoyable experience.
The latest leg held last weekend in Newcastle boasted a full 150 seats taken all by players who qualified online for their place in the £15,000 gtd tournament. It is a little strange that there is no direct buyin to the Sky Poker Tour, but it is good marketing on Sky’s part when you have to sign-up to their online offering to be able to take part in the live events.
The only complaint (if you can call it that) about the Sky Poker Tour is a complete and utter lack of information. Despite scouring their site, asking many times for information about starting stacks, blind levels, side games and more we have yet to get a straight answer, perhaps it’s just Sky’s way as many will know if you’ve ever had to phone Sky TV for anything!!!!
That aside, the SPT is gathering momentum and offers a more relaxed poker tournament with £15,000 gtd prizepools for a £100 entry. Remember though that the only way to play is to win your seat online at Sky Poker.
Here’s a snap of Wayne ‘Gliterbabe’ Rideout the winner of the Sky Poker Tour Newcastle 2011, could you be next? The next leg is in Luton on the 5th of March and hopefully we will have many more details by then 🙂
