It would seem the entire united force of the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) is not enough to stand up to the might of Viktor Blom, aka Isildur1. The PokerStars SuperStar Shpowdown has gone on ahead as planned, with the final winner being given the chance to play the famed Swede himself in a heads up match. Naturally being Swedish, U.S. legislation is far beyond his concern.
The lucky winner, MASTERMIXUS, will have the opportunity to take on Blom across four tables of $5/$10 No Limit Hold’em or Pot Limit Omaha this Sunday for 2,500 hands. MASTERMIXUS qualified by wining a freeroll series which netted him $15,000. The evil PokerStars twist being that the $15,000 is not his own…yet. Whatever he wins during his time over the online felt against Blom, or whatever he manages not to lose, he will be allowed to keep. Should he win, he will also receive an additional cash bonus.
During the last SuperStar Showdown, Blom managed to beat challenger Attila Gulsik by just $5 over the course of 2500 hands. However, this still meant Gulsik was able to walk away with $14,995 to grace his bankroll. MASTERMIXUS has already clocked up over $2,300 in winnings on PokerStars, and will take on Blom this Sunday online.
An intimidating thought for any player, as Isildur1 is clocking up a hefty number of online wins, boosting his winnings by over $300,000. He took on and won against celebrated Canadian player Daniel Negreanu in March in an online heads-up. He has also scored victories against Eugene Katchalov, Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates and Lithuanian Tony G , his only loss of late coming at the hands of Isaac “philivey2694” Haxto.
