Alan Mansbridge wins Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Walsall 2011
The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour flew into Walshall over the weekend, where it was won by London cab driver Alan Mansbridge. The cabbie managed to beat out a field of 172 players in order to take first place, including established professionals such as Praz Bansi, Simon Deadman and Danny Toffel.
His victory is made all the more incredible after Mansbridge was short stacked in the penultimate day. Making it down to heads up, he found himself squaring off against English pro Martin Holmes.
The main GUKPT now takes a break while the summer Series of events begins, the first of which will be hosted at Grosvenor Casinos in Dundee and Brighton, from the 11th to the 15th of May.
For his win, Mansbridge took a total of £50,000. Perhaps this spells the end of his cab driving days?
The final table winnings were distributed as follows:
1. Alan Mansbridge – £50,000
2. Martin Holmes – £34,830
3. Simon Deadman – £21,930
4. Danny Toffel – £13,330
5. Nick Hicks – £10,320
6. Ryan Spittles – £8,170
7. Benjamin Jenkins – £6,450
8. Adrian Eley – £4,730
9. Craig Burgess – £3,440
